Château Clinet

Since he took over the estate in 1998, Ronan Laborde has been taking meticulous care of Chateau Clinet in hope of making the best wines in Pomerol. Over the past 20 years, the quality of Clinet has improved remarkably, and in the best vintages the quality now rivals well known Pomerol estates such as Petrus. Following Jean Michel Arcaute’s success in the 1970s, Ronan’s efforts have had a big impact on more recent, modern vintages in particular the 2009 which was awarded 100pts by Robert Parker Jr who described it as ‘the greatest wine ever made at the estate’. Through joint efforts of generations of winemakers, Clinet is regarded as one of the top Pomerols that reflect the gifted terroir on the plateau. With a relatively modest production of c. 4,000 cases per annum, this wine is increasingly becoming difficult to find. The wines typically exhibit pleasant notes of ripe plums and blueberries, dense, rich and super concentrated with a smooth tannin and a very long finish.
